Double Wine Bag

Oh am I proud of myself!  I knitted a wine tote for my two friends only using the power of my imagination!

It is in a spiral stitch, knitted with a circular needle.  Very awesome.  If I ever get followers on my silly blog on my adventures in knitting, maybe I will post the pattern.  For now though, the world will just have to wait!

Cables, Cables and More Cables

I like how cabled things look in knitted things.  So, since I have a general idea on how to do them, I tried to tackle a project all by myself.

Fail.

So I went onto Ravelry, and looked up a nice, simple cable project.  I was looking for one a little more intricate than the 4 stitch-hold-in-front single boring cable.  Oh, yes, Ravelry is full of super intricate, and for sale, cable pattern things.  I only wanted to make a headband or scarf or belt or something like that.  Then I found it.  The perfect pattern!  And free!

Success.

It is so pretty!  No applause necessary!  Thank you thank you thank you!

Weekend is Over

Had a great weekend.  See pictures.

I haven't been out on a boat since living in Hawaii and I must say, I had the best time.

I opened a new store on Etsy.com.  I have a new goal of knitting a cover for my recliner.  Something that matches (sort of !) my apartment.  So in an effort to make a beautiful cover, I am knitting all sorts of things for practice.  Here's the link:

Have a great week!

I'd Like a Double Espresso so I Could Stay up all Night!

There's a tsunami warning in effect for Hawaii.  I have everything prepared, but I'm not terribly worried due to the fact that I live pretty far "inland."  I don't know if I can stay awake for the 3am impact, but I'd like to be.  Would like to be awake in case anything happens.  The last tsunami warning we had was 2 years ago, and nothing came of it.  But it also was in the middle of the day.  I could start to finish a new knitting project, just got some real sock yarn in the mail, but I think I should practice little socks with scraps before trying a real sock.

The sirens started going off.

My New Hobby

I have recently, at least in the recent past, have taken up knitting.  I tried to learn when I was younger, but I had no attention span then.  I don't have much now, but it is there.  It all started when I had to fly from Hawaii to California with my boss and another employee.  To keep myself to myself on this flight, I quickly learned the knit and purl.  For the 10 hour round-trip, I knitted away.  Kept me busy and out of any "talk too much" situations I tend to find myself in.

The projects I managed to complete is a baby blanket for a friend, a very odd looking purse and a pair of fingerless gloves.  Just the other day I learned this very awesome twisted double stitch thing and cranked out a 6 foot scarf in a little under 2 hours.  But these 2 hours spanned 2 days.  I plan to use this stitch on a wine bag I promised two friends of mine.  I started it on a circular needle and it looks much more amazing than I had originally thought.  I took a break from it today and knitted, you'll never believe it, a SOCK!

This said sock is a tiny little sock, the top opening only fits your finger.  Could be used for a Christmas ornament or a potpourri sachet for your, ahem, sock drawer.  I'm going to keep practicing on the little sock, so you may see these for sale on ebay soon.  If anyone wants one, leave a comment.  I have accumulated all sorts of yarn, and I am on the verge of becoming obsessed.

Pictures to follow.  !!! <--excited about the SOCK
